GRAND CHUTE (NBC 26) — A Fox Valley woman is accused of breaking into and hiding in a house after running from the scene of a hit-and-run crash.

Grand Chute Police said at about 6 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to Interstate 41 northbound at Lynndale Drive in the town of Grand Chute to a report of a hit and run.

Police said a witness saw the vehicle driver involved in the crash run from the scene. While no one was hurt, police said the highway was closed for an extended period of time while officers on the scene investigated.

Shortly after the crash, a resident of North Fox Glove Lane in Grand Chute reported an unknown person had entered their home. Police entered the home and eventually found the person hiding in the house. Police said officers determined the person was the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle.

The suspect was identified as a 30-year-old Fox Valley resident. She was arrested and taken to the Outagamie County Jail for burglary, possession of narcotic drugs, possession of prescription drugs without a valid prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony bail jumping and a probation hold.

Police said she was also issued criminal citations for hit and run and operating after revocation.
