UPDATE: Police provide a new update on the case, saying the officer who was stabbed underwent reconstructive surgery to his face this morning and was released from the hospital.

GREEN BAY (NBC 26) - A suspect has been arrested in connection with the deaths that happened Monday night on Clement Street in Green Bay.

Police were called to Clement St. around 8:30 for reports of gunshots. When they arrived at the apartment building, they found two men inside who had been killed by gunshots.

Overnight, detectives were able to locate a suspect and ended up in a vehicle pursuit. The suspect eventually crashed in the intersection of Dousman and North Broadway around 5:50 Tuesday morning.

The suspect ran away on foot, and officers pursued him. When they caught up with him, an officer was stabbed in the face but they were able to subdue the suspect.

The officer who was stabbed is undergoing surgery but will recover.

The suspect was also taken to a hospital. He suffered a cut on his wrist that officers believe was self-inflicted.

Police say the suspect and the two victims knew each other and the public is not in danger.

The area of Dousman St. and North Broadway will be closed while the investigation continues.
