As more students return, experts say there's a substitute teacher shortage.
Locally, officials said a lot of long-standing subs didn't feel good about coming back this year.
“I would say the need for substitute teachers this year has been higher than in years past. There's been a great need for an increase in subs over the last several years, but this year and all of the unique challenges it's bringing, is also creating a unique need for substitute teachers,” said Aaron Malczewski, Business Development Director at CESA7.
Experts also say it's hard to determine the need for the rest of the year.
