SUAMICO (NBC 26) -- The NEW Zoo & Adventure Park welcomes giraffe Nigel to their park's family.
Originally from the Erie Zoo in Pennsylvania, nine year old Nigel made the journey to Suamico in a trailer specially designed for giraffes.
Zookeeper Shannon Scanlan traveled to the Erie Zoo for several days in order to spend time with Nigel and his Keepers. Scanlan wanted to learn Nigel's routine to provide the best care after the move and make him comfortable in his new home, the NEW Zoo website writes.
Arriving late Tuesday night, Nigel was settled in before meeting the NEW Zoo's other giraffe, Zuri.
The NEW Zoo's Facebook posts mention the Giraffe Feeding Experience will be closed through Friday, November 1st to give time for Nigel and Zuri to continue to get to know each other.
Nigel will make his first debut on Saturday, November 2nd during normal Giraffe Feeding Experience times of 10:30 AM to 12:15 PM and then again 1:15 PM to 3:00 PM.
