STURGEON BAY (NBC 26) — It’s St. Patrick’s Day and while festivities this year might look a little different than what we’re used to in the past, one area restaurant is continuing to celebrate with some traditional favorites.
From Irish stew to corned beef and cabbage, Kitty O’Reillys Irish Pub in Sturgeon Bay will be serving it all.
"Last year on this day sadly we were shut down at 5pm, I think we already beat last year so wooo to that," said Amy Crook, owner.
Is it the luck of the Irish or could it be that people are starting to get more comfortable to be out again.
For them, they say business is finally starting to pick up and get back to normal.
“Now our to go's today and carryout and curbside have been huge. The phone's been ringing. I thought maybe she needed that hook thing today because our phones have been off the hook, which is great,“ Crook said.
For one customer, he said he came out because St. Patrick's Day is a holiday that means a lot to him.
"A lot of pride involved in it for sure to be Irish American," said Wyatt Davis.
And now he wants to pass that pride down to his 16 month son.
"My mom and her parents are very Irish. We always love the Irish traditions. The songs, the traditions, the foods, and we just want to pass that along to our little man here," Davis said.
The restaurant has been having celebrations as early as last weekend.
Here’s a video from Saturday with an Irish Bagpiper.
Some who had the luck of the Irish on their side also had the chance to order not only green beer but take home these commemorative St. Patrick’s Day glasses.
