ASHWAUBENON (NBC 26) — With just a few simple ingredients and just a little bit of time, a home-cooked meal can be made into something delicious.

Chef Ace Champion gave us some cooking tips and tricks amid the coronavirus concerns that have shut the doors of some restaurants. Many people have been told to work from home. That could easily disrupt our daily diets. However, Champion said there are a lot of benefits to eating in.

"A lot of great things about cooking at home, he said. "It's my passion. I have a fun time doing it, turn on music and break out your creative juices and cook some good, healthy food."

Champion said it's important to eat healthy and well. He demonstrated a rice and beans dish made with some vegetables and, because this is Wisconsin, brats.

Within half an hour, we had an easy and delicious meal with leftovers to freeze. The ingredients we used can also be the start of a recipe that leads to other meals.

"There's a lot of regular dishes that we can normally make like chicken dishes, steak dishes, any pasta dish," Champion said. "Pasta is a great thing, just have a couple dishes of dried pasta."
