WISCONSIN (NBC 26) — Wisconsin State Patrol plans aerial enforcement in seven counties this week, including Fond du Lac and Oconto Counties.
Weather permitting, the State Patrol’s Air Support Unit is set to patrol the following areas:
Tuesday, July 12
- WIS 26 – Fond du Lac County
Wednesday, July 13
- I-43 – Ozaukee County
Thursday, July 14
- US 53 – Eau Claire County
Friday, July 15
- WIS 26 – Fond du Lac County
- US 45 – Waupaca County
- WIS 29 – Chippewa County
Saturday, July 16
- I-94 – Dunn County
Sunday, July 17
- US 41/141 – Oconto County
According to Wisconsin State Patrol, it’s much easier from the air to spot drivers who are speeding or driving aggressively. When a pilot observes a violation, police said they communicate with ground-based units to initiate a traffic stop.
Police said many aerial enforcement missions are announced publicly to reinforce State Patrol’s goal to improve safety through voluntary compliance with traffic laws, not simply to stop or cite drivers.
