GREEN BAY — St. Vincent de Paul Green Bay will host another session of its workforce development program, Back2Work, in January 2021.
The program, which launched in Green Bay in fall of 2019, blends aspects of traditional workforce concepts with a modern learning model.
Back2Work partners with local employers to help participants transition from learning mode to working mode and earning a paycheck. This is done through two weeks of classroom sessions followed by 180 hours of paid internship through our community corporate partners. The goal of the internship is to create a work record, with the hopes that one may find a permanent placement in the organization.
Corporate partners include Amerilux, Carnivore Meats, Gandrud Automotive, Lindquist Machine, Mail Haus, Metals Engineering, Quality Auto Repair Inc., RGL Logistics, Services Plus, Inc., Trudell Industrial Finishing, Valley Packaging Supply and VerHalen.
"St. Vincent de Paul Green Bay wants to be a part of workforce development and systemic change in the greater Green Bay community – and we know that is more important now than ever due to the effects of the pandemic on working families," said Justine Braun, the marketing and public relations coordinator for St. Vincent de Paul Green Bay, in an email press release.
The January session will host a smaller in-person group than usual, but social distancing and mask wearing will be in practice.
Program Coordinator Christopher Zahn is a professional with experience in criminal justice reform, reentry needs and substance use disorder/mental health issues. Reentry is community reintegration from any adverse situation and job opportunities are part of the process.
