GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — Packers fans from far and wide say they're relieved Aaron Rodgers is staying in Green Bay, a decision that will also benefit the local economy.
"I think it's great. I think it's good for everybody, everything. He's the best," said Bonnie Maxwell, a fan from Ashwaubenon.
"Best quarterback in the league," said Tim Rosengarten, a fan from Perth, Western Australia. "Let's go get a championship man. This is the time. We need to pay him as much as he wants to be paid."
"I'm so happy that we're going to have him back. He was such a great quarterback and he does a lot of great things for us," said Michael Pecanas, from Suring. "I hope that we can win, and go to the Super Bowl this year and take it all the way."
Drawing fans from around the world, Brad Toll, Discover Green Bay president & CEO, said Rodgers' decision will continue to boost the local economy.
"He's been fantastic for tourism. He helps drive demand: ticket demand, room-night demand for our hotel community," Toll said. "It'll be another great four years. No question."
Toll said a typical home game weekend runs at $15 million in economic impact with hotel occupancy in the 90th percentile.
"Aaron being on the field is going to make sure we keep it there," Toll said. "He helps keep that number where it's at and continues to make it strong."
Now, fans are looking toward what they hope will be a strong season.
