Silver Alert for man missing from Allouez cancelled

UPDATE -- James Wanek has been found safe. The Silver Alert has been cancelled.

ALLOUEZ, Wis. (NBC 26) -- A Silver Alert has been issued for a 85-year-old man missing from Brown County.

James Wanek was last seen in Allouez.

He had been missing earlier Thursday and was found by a deputy. Wanek told the deputy he had gone to his cottage and got lost on the way home. Wanek was following his son back to his home in a vehicle when another vehicle got in between them. He never made it home.

Wanek is believed to be on foot or in a 2008 silver Chevrolet Impala with a Wisconsin license plate. The license plate number is 864CBH and has a Gustman license plate holder.

Wanek is a white male and was last seen wearing a black hooded winter jacket, possibly dark gray dress slacks, black tennis shoes, and a wedding ring. He's 5'10" 175 pounds and has blue eyes.
