FOND DU LAC (NBC 26) — Fond du Lac Police Officers were driving the area of Johnson Street on Saturday night when they witnessed a person on foot in the parking lot of Family Dollar shooting toward two vehicles.

In a statement from the Sheriff's office, officers ran toward the gunfire, the armed suspect fled on foot, and a foot pursuit then occurred. During the pursuit, the suspect ditched the handgun.

The suspect, a 21-year-old Fond du Lac male, was taken into custody at gunpoint near the dead end of North Bell Street. The suspect was then transported to St. Agnes Hospital for injuries related to the foot pursuit.

One of the involved vehicles remained in the area while the other vehicle left during the foot pursuit.

St. Agnes Hospital intercepted a patient with a gunshot wound at the emergency room with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. FDLPD Officers were able to determine that the patient, a 32-year-old Fond du Lac female, was connected with the shooting in the parking lot of the Family Dollar.

During a secondary search of the area, the handgun was recovered. The crime scene is still being processed.
