MARINETTE, Wis. (NBC 26) -- The Cottages Assisted Living and Memory Care is showing everyone that although they're cooped up, they're making it through this difficult time.

Staff at the Cottages at Lake Park wanted to show families their loved ones are doing well and send them a message, too. Mandy Ward, the memory care director, said they haven't been allowing visitors for a few weeks now. Ward said they decided to get out a board, and asked residents what they would like to write for a message. Then, they posted photos of the residents and their messages on Facebook. From there, the community showed its support.

"They're getting all these compliments sent in, and the residents love it. It's good for them to get that attention. They deserve it. You know, its a hard time for them right now," said Laura Lutzke, the marketing and social media specialist for the Cottages Assisted Living and Memory Care.

Lutzke said family, friends, and even strangers are showing their love to the residents. Now, the other facilities within the Cottages Assisted Living and Memory Care are joining in, too.

Mary Lemsky's 89th birthday was Wednesday. Her family put up a sign and a teddy bear outside a window to celebrate with her. She said it's hard on everybody right now, but she's looking forward to when things can go back to normal.
