Seymour Police report gas leak, traffic diverted

SEYMOUR (NBC 26) — UPDATE: As of 3:35 p.m., the Seymour Police Department reports repairs to the gas line will take an additional three hours.

Officials were told by WE Energies that there is a bad valve in the gas line.

It is anticipated that repairs to the line will be completed between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. tonight.

Seymour Police Department is reporting a gas leak that is diverting traffic and causing some residents to be displaced.

Police report a large gas leak in to 700 block of Foote Street. Traffic is blocked from Elm Lane to Bronson Road. Police ask people to avoid the area. Surrounding residences have been evacuated.

Police said Wednesday afternoon that We Energies is on scene. They’re anticipating at least two hours to fix the leak. Police said residents that are displaced or voluntarily evacuated may use city hall facilities until it's safe to return.
