APPLETON (NBC 26) -- Another candidate has officially entered the race for Appleton mayor.

Dana Johnson announced his candidacy in a news release Sunday morning. Johnson describes himself as a small business owner with experience in social work. A LinkedIn page attributed to Johnson lists him as the co-owner of MOOD Salon in Appleton and as the Director of Kewaunee County Human Services. His campaign website says he co-owns a small business with his husband, Eric.

Johnson's campaign statement shared some of his ideas for Appleton's future and stated support for the outgoing mayor, Tim Hanna.

"I will continue the legacy of Mayor Tim Hanna’s initiatives by keeping the best and improving the rest," the statement says. "Enhancing the riverfront to drive commerce and culture in our city, fostering a corridor of commerce on Wisconsin Avenue to promote our diversity and community, and developing a private-public partnership to house an innovation center downtown will move Appleton forward."

Johnson is the second candidate running for Appleton mayor. Earlier this month, Chad Doran, the Communications Coordinator for the City of Appleton, announced his candidacy.
