NEENAH, Wis. (NBC 26) -- Ella Schroeder, a captain of the Neenah girls basketball team, is NBC 26's Scholar Athlete recipient.
Schroeder has rebounded faster than expected from her ACL injury, taking rehabilitation in to her own hands during the coronavirus pandemic as facilities shutdown while cases skyrocketed in northeast Wisconsin. The pandemic has furthered her focus on health while prioritizing what she can control: her hard work on and off the court.
"I could go hang out with a big group of friends, but then I would risk missing basketball for three weeks," Schroeder said. "So you just have to set your priorities right now and everything should fall in to place, hopefully."
