OSHKOSH, Wis. (NBC 26) — This week’s scholar athlete to be highlighted on NBC 26 is Aidan Berndt, a senior at Oshkosh West.
His spring baseball season was pushed to summer, while his cross country season was cancelled outright. He missed the first swim meet of the season but says he’s excited to start the season with a return to normalcy.
Outside of school and the pool, Berndt works as a caretaker at a local assisted living center. He says he’s felt the importance of his work this year moreso during the pandemic.
“It’s been a lot different because many people are sad they can’t see their families,” Berndt said. “So you have to really grow with them, have relationships with them and talk with them to help them get past this.”
