DE PERE (NBC26) — With almost double the amount of lights from last year and 700 feet of tunnels, Santa's Rock N Lights has never looked this bright.

The animated drive-thru animated light show returns to the Brown County Fairgrounds tonight. With many local christmas traditions being canceled this year due to COVID-19, Mark Kolozsy, event manager for Rock N Lights, says this year is going to be bigger and better than ever before.

“With COVID, this is the perfect way that people get out and have a safe event," he said. "We've got a lot of buzz going around with people excited to be seeing all the lights.”

There's something else that's new this year: a dinosaur world. Jim Canfield, manager for Rock N Lights, says they asked kids what they wanted to see, in preparation for this year.

“We give them pictures to look at and at the end we’re like, 'Is there anything you remember?' They always said, 'we remember dinosaurs,'" he said. "So if the kids remember it, they like it, we’re going to put it in there.”

They wanted to make this year's show extra special, he said.

“This is one of the safest traditions you can do," said Canfield. "It’s in your car, contactless, and we’ve done everything we can do to be safe and fun.”

It’s tough to find ways to get into Christmas spirit this year, but Kolozsy is hoping the lights will help.

“This is a good time for people to get out," he said. "People want to get out and go do stuff, so Santa’s Rock N Lights is a perfect time.”

The show is open from November 20th to January 3rd. Hours are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The ticket cost per car is $19.99 on weekdays and $24.99 on Fridays and Saturdays. Rock N Lights is also accepting donations for Toys for Tots.
