GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — Members of the Jewish faith here and around the world are celebrating Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, which begins at sundown on Monday, Sept. 6 and extends until nightfall on Wednesday, Sept. 8.

"Rosh Hashanah, the New Year in essence is the creation of the entire universe," said Rabbi Michoel Feinstein, Chabad of the Bay Area. "So as much as it’s a Jewish holiday in the Jewish calendar, in essence we’re celebrating the creation of everything ... all people, all animals, and all the entire of creation."

Jews around the world will join High Holiday services to pray for the wellbeing of all humanity and hear the shofar — made from a ram’s horn (or other kosher animals).

Because of the ongoing pandemic, rabbis are offering multiple prayer service options to accommodate the various needs of the community as the Delta variant spreads.
