The Green Bay Board of Education will discuss a proposal to return students to class in a hybrid of virtual and in-person learning.
Schools in the Green Bay Area Public School District have been in all-virtual learning since mid-March 2020 due to concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic.
In an email to families and staff Friday, officials said the board will review the proposal at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The proposal has students returning to class either Monday and Tuesday, or Thursday and Friday, with Wednesday remaining a virtual day. Students would return in stages, the email says. This proposed transition would begin in mid-February, starting with the youngest grade levels first.
"If the Board proposal passes and a return to blended learning is implemented, students who wish to remain in the virtual learning model will be allowed to do so," the message reads.
The Jan. 19 Board of Education meeting is a special board meeting, so there will be no open forum. However, parents and staff are encouraged to email board members at boardofeducation@gbaps.org. The meeting will be streamed on the school district's YouTube page.
