STURGEON BAY (NBC 26) — Sunday, the Republican Party of Door County posted photos of its building that had been vandalized overnight.
"This was done to our headquarters early this morning," the group wrote on Facebook. "When I was there earlier many people stopped by to say they were sorry to see this, and several of them stayed to help clean up. We will not be intimidated or silenced. You have pushed too far and I believe you will pay the price in November when you lose."
Sturgeon Bay police said they have seen an increase of people vandalizing, stealing, and breaking yard signs related to political groups.
"Everyone has different opinions, politics, viewpoints, etc." the Sturgeon Bay Police Department posted. "Often, people will express these views on their own property. These are established and guaranteed rights that EVERYONE has."
Police remind everyone that if you are caught damaging, vandalizing, or trespassing on someone's property you will be cited and potentially arrested.
If you have information on the vandalism done to the Republican Party of Door Co. office, contact the Sturgeon Bay Police Department at (920) 746-2450.
