GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — The U.S. News & World Report has listed Green Bay as the third best place to live in America.
The report, Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2022-2023, also ranks Madison 17th on the list. U.S. News says it analyzed the 150 most populous metro areas in the U.S. to find the best places to live.
"Home to one of the most storied football franchises in the NFL, the Green Bay Packers, Green Bay has the perfect mix of big-city amenities complemented with a Midwestern, small-town feel," U.S. News says in its report.
To make the top of the list, U.S. News says a place had to be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market and retain a high quality of life. It also factors in the affordability of housing in the area.
U.S. News says it uses data from sources including the U.S. Census Bureau, the FBI, the U.S. Department of Labor and U.S. News' own internal resources.
Huntsville, Alabama took the number one spot on the list.
