GRAND CHUTE (NBS 26) -- Grand Chute Police Department explains what the "5 Minute Loading Zone" signs means.
Many drivers are probably familiar with seeing "Loading Zone" signs by school drop-off points, but may not know what they mean.
According to Wisconsin State Statue 346.53, "No person shall stop or leave any vehicle standing except temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading or in receiving or discharging passengers and while the vehicle is attended by a licensed operator so that it may promptly be moved in case of an emergency or to avoid obstruction of traffic."
The Department says that these signs are meant to keep the drop-off area fluid for people to be able to timely drop off their students at places like Houdini Elementary.
If you have business inside the school, you will need to find an appropriate parking stall, Police say.
