“I remember when I was younger, my mom struggled to give us the bare necessities when we needed it and I learned that once you feel good, you look good, you do good. So I just wanted to do my part and give back to the community and send kids off to school with a little bit of confidence, especially with everything that is going on,” said Daniel Gilbert, one of the barbers giving out free haircuts.

The purpose of this event was to provide free cuts while kids read a book.

“I’m a big reader, but I wanted to also like get the kids reading, get kind of get them prepared for back to school as well,” Gilbert said.

Those topics focused on diversity, inclusion, acceptance of all.

"I just kind of wanted to educated the kids about equality, diversity, and that it’s okay to love anybody no matter what. No matter their color of their skin. We got to learn to all be equal, all love each other and spread more love than hate,” Gilbert said.
