GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- The Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin says it's always important to be careful about what you share on social media. There are numerous reasons, one of them being there are people working full-time to steal and sell your information every day.

They may seem harmless, but online quizzes and the most recent one circling social media is the #Classof2020. This is where you share a senior photo along with your graduation year and the high school you attended. Seems innocent, but the issue is that we're sharing a lot of information with someone that are typically used for security questions.

A reminder that once it's posted to social media, it exists forever. Anyone can screenshot a post and use or sell that information at any time.

There are some ways you can protect yourself.

First, resist the urge to play along.
Make sure you have strong security settings on your social media as well as other accounts.
Be sure to change your passwords.
If you have already filled out a quiz or shared this information for a security question for another account, be sure to go and change the password for that account.
Lastly, if you've ever been contacted by a scammer, be sure to report it to the BBB. You can do that by heading to bbb.org/scamtracker/reportscam.

You can also track scams that have already been reported on their website.
