GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- A proposal for a grocery store and new housing in downtown Green Bay is moving forward.

An email newsletter from Downtown Green Bay says $24 million project was approved by the City of Green Bay Redevelopment Authority (RDA) to bring new development to Monroe Avenue.

The newsletter says the project would bring Maurer's Market as the 24,000-square-foot grocery store, as well as 70 apartments above the storefront, and 10 town homes facing N. Quincy Street. All of the units will be rentals and 56 of them will be designated as affordable housing.

According to the newsletter, the project developer, Gorman & Company, is now seeking tax credits to secure the project financially and offer the 56 affordable housing units to those who make 60% or less of the county median income.
