TWO RIVERS (NBC 26) — An off-duty police officer was arrested Saturday for a suspected OWI, the Two Rivers Police Department announced Sunday.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the Two Rivers Police Department said they were disappointed to announce that off-duty Officer Tanner Schmidt was arrested Saturday night following a crash.

The police department said no one was hurt in the two-vehicle crash. The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office investigated the crash, arrested Officer Schmidt, and then later released him to a responsible party, according to the news release.

The Two Rivers Police Department said they were conducting an internal investigation into the incident.
