FOND DU LAC (NBC 26) — A suspect punched an officer in the neck area during an arrest Thursday morning, Fond du Lac Police said.

A Fond du Lac police officer observed a pick-up truck being pushed by hand without any license plate early Thursday morning. Police said the 29-year-old suspect was contacted but took off running.

Two officers took off in a foot chase catching up to the suspect in the parking lot of a Kwik Trip on 158 N. Main Street. Upon contact, police said the man punched an officer in the neck area and physically resisted during arrest.

Fond du Lac Police said officers learned the man had initially provided a false name. Additionally, inside the pick-up officers located methamphetamine and other associated drug paraphernalia.

The FDLPD Officer received minor injuries and the 29-year-old suspect was taken to St. Agnes/SSM Health with minor injuries.

The 29-year-old man was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, battery to law enforcement officer, two counts of bail jumping, obstructing/resting, and operating while revoked 18th offense.
