GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — The trees from the Packers’ “First Downs for Trees” program were picked up by Brown County communities on Tuesday at Meacham Nursery in Green Bay.

According to the Green Bay Packers, the program donates trees to participating Brown County communities based on the number of first downs scored by the Packers in the previous season. This is the 12th year of the program.

Thanks to the program’s co-sponsors, Essity and Green Bay Packaging Inc., the Packers said the program donated 406 trees this year to 19 local communities.

Two nurseries, Meacham Nursery and Leaves Inspired, provided the trees this year. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Wisconsin Public Service help to administer the “First Downs for Trees” program, the Packers said.
