GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — If your significant other is an animal lover, Petal Pusher flower shop has the perfect Valentine's Day gift for you.

Every Valentine's Day, Petal Pusher teams up with Lucky 7 Dog Rescue for its special "puppy kisses" flower arrangement. When you order the arrangement, your flower delivery comes with a visit from a puppy, some of which are in need of foster homes or a forever home.

“We have an an arrangement that people can order online or over the phone. It comes with a cute little card that tells the recipient that it supports Lucky 7 Dog Rescue and it’s delivered by a Lucky 7 volunteer along with a puppy,” said Nichole Campbell, the owner of Petal Pusher.

Emily Evenson, a manager at Festival Foods who also volunteers at Lucky 7, received a delivery from her husband of seven years. For her, Valentine’s Day is an important anniversary.

“He actually proposed to me on Valentine’s Day so it’s always a special day for us,” Evenson said.

This is the fourth year that Petal Pusher and Lucky 7 Dog Rescue have partnered for Valentine's Day. Every year, the two make deliveries all over the Green Bay community from schools to nursing homes.

"Those are really special deliveries just because those people really appreciate that gesture of kindness," Campbell said.

Leanne Helmrich, the intake coordinator for Lucky 7, says the partnership has led to multiple adoptions over the years.

“There’s always a good love connection, we go in and people meet the pups and get to apply and they get to adopt the pup,” Helmrich said.

She says seeing the reaction of recipients to the puppies is something she looks forward to every year.

“There’s never a sad face," Helmrich said. "Everybody’s got a big old smile, lots of sometimes happy crying, it’s just a fun feeling to give everybody love and kisses and flowers.”

Lucky 7 is currently in need of dog food donations and short term foster homes. You can drop off any donations at their location 239 N Broadway. You can also learn how you can foster a dog at lucky7dogrescue.com.
