APPLETON (WGBA) -- A large protest broke out Monday night where demonstrators demanded justice for the shooting of Jacob Blake.
A viral video went out Sunday night showing Blake getting shot multiple times by police in Kenosha. This evening, Black Lives Matter protesters marched through downtown Appleton spreading a message to the community that they want equality for all.
"This now a job," said Joseph Kendrick, one of the protesters. "This is my 33rd protest this year. It is a fight for change."
The protest began at 5:00 p.m. at Houdini Plaza. Protesters then went down College Ave. and into nearby neighborhoods chanting for justice.
"This is happening too much and it has to stop," said Sophia Wenzelberger, another protester. "We we chant 'say his name' I just don't know who to chant for anymore because so many Black people have been shot this year."
Many who attended the protests say they felt the urge to speak up after they watched the video. They say they plan to continue protesting.
"Most of the people protesting are young," Wenzelberger said. "This happened way to close to home. Seeing the young people really step up gives me up that change will come."
