WRIGHTSTOWN (NBC 26) — In order to cool down during the heat wave over the Independence Day weekend, many people decided to head down to the Fox River on Saturday afternoon.

In Wrightstown, folks really managed to soak in the sun.

Families were out jet skiing, boating, and kids enjoyed splashing around the water.

For Jacqueline Rinehart of Greenleaf, she came out with her family to spend the afternoon on the river.

“Well, we just kayaked a little bit and I realized it takes a lot more balance than canoeing the one time I went. But, it didn’t feel too difficult once I got into it,” Rinehart said.

She said it was actually her first time kayaking and unfortunately she did fall into the Fox River.

But besides the fact that she fell, she said getting a dip in the water was a great way to cool down.

Rinehart was with her family during these water activities and says on Sunday they plan to have a cook out to celebrate the holiday.
