GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — We’re just one day away from Super Bowl Sunday and food is something that’s on many people’s mind.

Locally-owned grocery store, Mason Brothers’ Red Owl said they started seeing people come in before the cold-snap.

While they said they did have more people earlier this week before the temperatures dropped, they said they have still seen quite a few people pick up their last minute menu-items for game day.

"A lot of people have been picking up these two piece two pack pork butt roast. They can put that in the slow cooker or in the smoker. Although it takes a brave person to be out on the smoker in zero degree weather,” said Jared Mason, one of the owners.

Jared Mason also went on to say that some of the trends he has been seeing from customers are that many of them are leaning towards menu items where you don't necessarily have to be serving them.

"Items like tacos, Sloppy Joes, chili, really big items for super bowl Sunday", Jared said.

As Jared has spoken to his customers he said he has gotten a sense of what people are continuing to make this year.

“Chili seems to be the meal that people go for a lot. That or tacos or something taco-realted, where that’d be enchilada or taco dips Chips, salsa, cheese, crackers, you have to have sausage trays of course, pizza is always a good thing to have on hand. You can always throw one in in the pizza oven and that’s always works good", Jared said.

His brother, Justin Mason also one of the owners shared some of his favorite items.

“For me on Super Bowl, on Game Day I think I’m a big fan of pork butt roast on the crock post with some thick slicked onions on dinner rolls with sweet baby ray barbecue sauce. If there’s something better I haven’t found it. A side I think I’m doing Lays potato chips and to wash it all down we’re doing Jolly Good Soda. I think that’s my choice for Super Bowl Game Day Food”, said Justin.

Another customer shopping for last minute items also shared what he's looking forward to snacking on Sunday.

“I’m just grabbing a couple of things I haven’t gotten. I’ll probably have meatloaf, that’s my favorite. So I’ll have meatloaf, watch the game and have some nachos", said William Sutrick.

While large house parties aren’t a safe option for many this weekend due to Covid-19, Jared said he has been seeing more and more families buy food for an average of six to eight people.
