APPLETON (NBC 26) -- The Appleton Fire Department unveiled the new Lundgaard Park Friday, named after the late Driver Engineer Mitch Lundgaard.

Friday marks one year since Mitch Lundgaard was killed when a man opened fire after a rescue call in downtown Appleton. Police shot and killed the gunman.

Lundgaard's family, along with members of the Appleton Fire Department and other city officials, gathered at the intersection of North Lightning Drive and East Ashbury Drive to unveil the new park sign issued in Lundgaard's name.
