GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC26) -- Nearly 6,500 Packers fans will get to experience an NFC Championship game like no other this weekend.
For others, it'll be bittersweet.
"We did sell out," Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said. "Don't know exactly yet how quickly."
On Wednesday morning, the Packers sold out of 6,500 seats allotted to season ticket holders for Sunday's game at Lambeau Field, leaving some fans overjoyed and others disappointed.
"I did it [got tickets] for the Rams game and I was able to do it today," Wisconsin Rapids native and Packers fan Michael Kommer. "And don't get me wrong, it was a little hard sleeping last night saying 'ok... I gotta make sure I'm up and ready and moving and have everything ready so I have this opportunity.'"
Wayne Sargent has owned season tickets for 24 years and says he is a member of the Pro Football Ultimate Fan Association. He can't believe he missed out on tickets.
"There's a few guys out there and we go above and beyond your everyday fan for what we do, whether it be working with charity, helping those in need... things of that nature," said Packers fan and Green Bay resident Wayne Sargent. "But it's the way we support the team 365 days a year. There's not one of us that doesn't wear green and gold every day."
The seats were sold on Ticketmaster on a first-come, first-serve basis. But Murphy explained why he believes Sargent left Wednesday empty handed.
"We really put a focus more on frontline healthcare workers we feel obviously during the pandemic have really done so much for the community," Murphy said.
And season ticket holders like Sargent are upset at the system the packers used to sell seats.
"A person that has two season tickets, in all reality, I don't understand why they can buy six because it's a playoff game," he said.
But for those 6500 lucky fans, like Kommer, this weekend will be unforgettable.
"I kind of wrote it off that there was no way I was gonna be able to go and watch the Packers this year other than watching them on TV or bellying up to the bar or something," Kommer said. "But now that I have the chance and I'm able to be there, I'm very excited. I'm thankful. I'm appreciative of it."
