GREEN BAY, Wis. — Court filings detail allegations that two or more Packers Pro Shop employees stole from the pro shop for several years.
The accusations are against 57-year-old Patty Meyer and 67-year-old Susan Adelbush. In court records, they both told investigators they've worked at the pro shop for at least 15 years.
They're accused of using essentially the same 'return scam', but investigators say they used different techniques.
Adelbush is accused of printing two recipients for customer purchases, keeping a copy, and later scanning that receipt and taking money out of the register. Adelbush told investigators that about six years ago, she and her husband ran into financial issues. She said she accumulated a large debt from shopping online at QVC. She told investigators she then began taking money from the pro shop to pay that bill. She estimated at the end that she was taking around $250 a month and the return scam went on for a six year period.
Court filings say Meyer would put items on hold and then process a return on those items days later and pocket the money. She said that over the years she learned how to manipulate the system and steal money. Overall, Meyer said she believed she had taken between $1,000 and $2,000.
Meyer is also accused of being involved in a fraudulent return on an Aaron Rodgers jersey worth more than $239.
Meyer and Adelbush denied working together to investigators. The court filings said the Packers head of security told investigators there were three suspects. A third person is not named.
The Packers declined to comment, but did say they are working with authorities.
Meyer and Adelbush could not be reached for comment.
