ASHWAUBENON, Wis. — Coming into Stadium View on Thursday, many fans thought they'd get to see Aaron Rodgers on the field for the first time this season.

When that didn't happen, fans were still excited to see many of the starters out there. The result, though, was a pretty quiet bar on what fans viewed as an important preseason game.

"I think this is one of the more important preseasons we've had for the starters to play because this is the most speed and talent on offense and defense that we've had in the last five to six years since we won the Super Bowl," fan Jeff Stoeberl said.

Fans said the end result was some good and some not so good.

"It was nice to see linebackers filling gaps," Stoeberl said. "I still think they need to cover the middle routes with tight ends and the crossing routes."

Fans hope the offense can find the end zone more when Rodgers returns. They'd like to see him play next week in Canada.

"With a new coaching regime he needs to be on the field with the number ones to get the timing down and just get his feet wet basically," fan Patrick Boomer said.

The hope is that Rodgers will bring points and wins to match the renewed optimism fans shared at Stadium View.

"Yeah, regenerated, I'm hoping the team is regenerated," Melissa Boutote said. "I feel we have a pretty good season coming up."

"I am pumped," Dawne Diggman said. "I can't wait for the new season. We needed some changes. I loved the old team but I can't wait to see what the new team brings."
