OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Oshkosh Police Department will soon use a new tool that will give them an eye in the sky. They're in the process of creating a new team to fly a drone that was donated to the department. Officer Kate Mann said they can use the drone for everything from search and rescue to tactical operations or even to help after a natural disaster.
"Hopefully it'll make you feel safer, because it's just another tool that we can use if we're looking for maybe a subject that's posing a danger to the community or we're doing a search and rescue for vulnerable members of our community that have wandered or are lost."
Once the team members are selected, the officers will attend classes in Madison this June to become certified to fly the drone.
The Oshkosh Police Department currently has five open positions within the agency. They are in the hiring process right now. Click herefor more information.
