GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Operation Community Cares saw a need in the community.
For the past several weeks, this new organization has worked to meet that need and deliver food and other household essentials to people affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Each week, the team at OCC loads up about 400 carts filled with roughly 70 pounds of groceries and household essentials. Volunteers then deliver those items out to people in the community.
It meets a need and does it in a safe way, as people don't need to leave the house to get food.
“If we can fill that void, it feels great to see all the volunteers, we are not short on volunteers, we’ve got so many people eager to come in and put in so many hours," Operation Community Cares executive director Will Nething said.
Nething said OCC has also brought together many non profits in the Green Bay area.
“We’ve got really good nonprofits in the community, we’ve got really good business owners in the community, and we’ve got a lot of support in the community, which is awesome to see," he said.
