STURGEON BAY (NBC 26) — NWTC Sturgeon Bay Campus was evacuated Thursday due to a report of a suspicious package. Local law enforcement and canine units have completed a sweep of the campus and it is now safe to return.
Classes and hours of operation will return to normal on Friday.
A statement from an NWTC spokesperson said it was reported to authorities earlier Thursday that a mysterious package with a potential bomb had been placed on campus.
The campus immediately evacuated all staff and students. Law enforcement closed down the area.
According to Chief Clint Henry of Sturgeon Bay Police, authorities cleared the building but didn't find anything. Brown County authorities sent up a bomb squad unit to assist.
A call came in just before 2 p.m. that said there was a bomb in the computer lab, but no physical package was found. The all-clear has since been given.
