GREEN BAY (WGBA) -- Northeast Wisconsin Technical College held a virtual graduation ceremony Friday evening. The event featured the names and photos of over 2000 graduates.

"We still wanted to honor our graduates," said Joe Richter, the director of student involvement. "They worked hard and given the circumstances it is the least we could have done."

The ceremony started in the evening and was featured on YouTube. It started with remarks from the president and a student speaker. After the speeches, a slideshow started showing the names of the graduates and a photo to go along with it."

"I am very happy to call myself a graduate," said Yvette Katenda, one of the graduates. "I was sad at first, but my family sheered me up."

Graduates will have the chance to walk in December. That event is still scheduled. The unversity says a virtual ceremony was a nice tribute.

"It is different than gathering at the Resch Center," Richter said. "We think it is the least we can do."
