GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC26) -- Dozens of pro-Trump protesters took to the streets of Green Bay on Wednesday.

It wasn't anything like the events that took place in Washington D.C.

"[It's] Kind of just a tough thing to put into words exactly the amount of sadness and anger that I have about everything that's going on over there today," Fond du Lac County Democratic Party Chairman Joe Lavrenz said.

Hundreds of miles from the nation's capital, Northeast Wisconsin Republicans and Democrats formed their own opinions about the day's events.

"People going to Washington D.C. to protest... that shouldn't be anything that's considered radical or dangerous," Brown County Republican Party Vice Chair Andy Williams said.

Lavrenz didn't mince words when talking about people who stormed the United States Capitol.

"I just think everybody involved in it should be in jail," Lavrenz said. "Like, they should be going to jail. They should be prosecuted. They need to be called out as terrorists at this point. Because that's what they are."

Williams believes the good outweighed the bad.

"These rights are preserved to us through the Constitution and these people are exercising it," Williams said. "The vast majority are probably exercising everything responsibly."

And Lavrenz says he disowns Trump's advocates after Wednesday.

"Everybody that still supports him or supports these types of policies should realize this is what your reducing the country down to," Lavrenz said.

But Williams agrees on one thing. He says he condemns violence in every way.

"What we're hoping is that cooler heads prevail," Williams said "That's what needs to happen. There's obviously great passion regarding the integrity of the ballot box."
