GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — This weekend’s championship is attracting people from near and far.
Packers fans say the can hardly hold in their excitement.
“We’re just so excited to be here, drove 1300 miles to be here, to watch a football game. And to watch football from Lambeau field,” said a fan from Texas.
For many it’s all about the family tradition.
“It's the bond, it's his excitement that he has to watch the game with his dad. It’s my favorite thing in the world,” said Aaron Newman who drove out from Toledo, Ohio with his son.
Many of these out of towners don’t even have a way into Sunday's game.
A family from St. Louis said while they didn’t have tickets, they absolutely needed to be here for game day.
“We actually rented a bus. This how special this was for us”, said John Newman who traveled from St. Louis.
The anticipation continues to build.
Packers fans have been rushing to the pro shop as they get that last minute hat or jersey.
“People have been getting a lot of jerseys to a lot of warm weather gear from winter caps to hand warmers to jackers", said Derek Dimmer, store manager at the Packers Pro Shop.
As the fandom goes to sleep on Saturday night, one man says he remains optimistic as ever.
“There’s no doubt they’re going to go the Super Bowl to me. I actually packed my bags last night for a trip to Tampa Bay because I’m convinced they’re going to go”, said a passionate Packers fan.
