SUAMICO (NBC 26) — When you take down your tree this year, the NEW Zoo and Adventure Park would love to have it.
They can't come and get it, but if you remove the tinsel and decorations and drop it off, they'll make sure it gets enjoyed a second time.
They say the big cats drag them around and the red pandas love the smell, but maybe the goats enjoy them the most.
"The goats are really good about…these trees will be completely bare, like down to the twigs. We call them Tree Skeletons after they're done with them, and then they're hauled out to our compost pile to get rid of the trunks,” said Jessica Hutjens, the Senior Zookeeper.
If you'd like to donate your clean Christmas tree stop by the visitor center. The NEW Zoo is open from 9 am to 4 p.m. through March.
