GRAND CHUTE (WGBA) --- A new sporting complex will welcome athletes of all ages playing different sports. The Community First Champion Center opened its doors Wednesday.

"We are very excited about this center to open," said Pam Seidl, Fox Valley Convention director.

It features three sporting rooms - a hardwood court, hockey rink and multipurpose seasonal room. It cost around $30 million, and it was paid for by a room tax. Grand Chute officials say it will boost money into the economy.

"Just the schedule we have so far, it will bring people into hotels restaurants and more," said David Schowalter, the board chairman of Grand Chute. "People are going to see our beautiful community."

They project to make $8 million in the first year. The hope is it attracts people from all over the nation.

"We do think it will be a regional draw, and an Upper Midwest draw," Seidl said. "Hopefully over time, it can be a national draw."
