New mom wants Lambeau to change its child ticket policy

There is no lap-sitting allowed at Lambeau and a new mom wants that to change. A die-hard Packers fan wanted to bring her 3-month-old baby to the stadium.

Erica Johnson and her husband are long-time season ticket holders.

"Tickets have been in our family for generations so we were excited to see the team that both of her parents love," said Johnson. "It's just kind of a rite of passage for the family."

They planned to put their little girl in a cloth carrier and hold her in front, something they have done multiple times before. But what they didn't expect was the Packers' tickets policy, which stated no free entry to babies, even lap children. If Johnson wanted her child to come she had to buy a full price ticket.

"I was devastated," she said. "It definitely made us step back."

She wrote a letter to the Packers but never heard back. TODAY'S TMJ4 reached out and the Packers gave us this statement:

"Lambeau Field has had a longstanding policy that all those attending a game must have a ticket, regardless of age. As an older stadium, Lambeau Field has a seating area that is somewhat smaller than newer stadiums, and the policy ensures the safety and comfort of all in the stadium so everyone may enjoy the game."

"I was very confident in bringing her with," said Jonhson. "Obviously we have been in those seats before."

TODAY'S TMJ4 also checked around the NFC North. The Vikings, Bears and Lions all allow children in for free. Some allow children up to age 2. So do other NFL teams.

Other Wisconsin teams including the Bucks, Brewers and even the Badgers allow a lap child in without charge.

The Packers did say they offer nursing stations for new moms to pump or breastfeed at if someone brought in a child.

"Hopefully if not for me, for someone else they can review this policy and can introduce their children to the team and the game that we love," said Johnson.
