FOX CITIES (NBC 26) — Kim Mischler opened Sticky Fingers Cafe and Catering in Kaukauna just a few months ago in June.
“We have a little bit of everything for everybody," said Mischler. “I think it's great that people are coming out and about and, especially trying out downtown, because Kaukauna is really trying to revamp and get more people from surrounding cities to come and visit.”
Over the next 12 days, 12 different restaurants will offer multiple-course breakfast, lunch and/or dinner menus at a fraction of the normal cost. Breakfasts will be $10, lunch $15 and dinner either $26 or $32. It’s an honor to be participating in restaurant week, said Mischler.
“We're super excited," said Mischler. "I hope a lot of people come down and try us out.”
And while there will be new treats to try, like Sticky Fingers' signature Salted Oreo Caramel Pie, there will also be some familiar staples appearing at Restaurant Week, like Reuben soup and shank from OB's Brau Haus in Appleton.
“We top those with a mushroom peppercorn cream sauce," said Chris Nelis, owner. "Literally melts in your mouth. It's so good, it should be a sin.”
OB’s has participated in the annual restaurant week ever since it started.
"Serving somebody a good meal and the presentation of the meal and the whole nine yards that comes along with it is the real joy for me," said Nelis.
With the event being canceled last year due to COVID, Nelis is excited to get the community buzzing about local food, and beer, once again, he said.
“It means a lot in that sense to return to more normalcy, more of a routine again," he said. "I think a lot of people, they stopped going out, and that's unfortunate because when you go out to eat, it's not only just about the food, it's about the company that you keep. And it gives people a chance to enjoy that.”
