Neighbors who live along the course are asked to put out sprinklers to cool runners during the Fox Cities Marathon.
Race coordinators cite warm temperatures and humidity in the forecast during the weekend's events. Those living along the course are being asked to help out as thousands of runners are expected to hit the pavement on Sunday.
Those with sprinklers are asked to keep them running particularly from late morning to early afternoon in Appleton, Menasha, Fox Crossing, and Neenah.
“Every opportunity to cool down is welcome by participants, particularly on warm days like we are expecting. Seeing our community out there supporting them and cheering them on is one of the things they tell us the like best about our event,” said Julie Johnson, Race Director.
Participant safety is a top priority for staff of the Fox Cities Marathon, so coordinators are ensuring ample supplies at the water and medical stations throughout the course.
