NEENAH (NBC 26) — Friday morning was an exciting time for Neenah High School's Special Olympians as they were featured in their own annual version of "March Madness" before the nationally-televised games began.

Staff said typically the event takes place in November along with varsity boys basketball scrimmage, but this school year it was held March 19 from 10 to 11 a.m.

For the seventh consecutive year, the Special Olympics squad participated in an event dubbed "Phase 2." The team faced off against faculty members as the game was livestreamed into classrooms.

This year's event marked the second year that the Special Olympics squad includes student members of other Neenah varsity athletics programs as a "unified team." This year's game also featured an annual halftime dance performance with Special Olympians and members of the Neenah High School varsity girls volleyball team.
