NEENAH (WGBA) -- A family from Neenah currently visiting China got clearance for a charter flight back to the United States tonight.
"I am excited," said Samuel Roth, the husband and father who stayed in Neenah.
However, he said there are still plenty of hurdles in their way of returning to normalcy. The U.S. Department of State said they plan to quarantine people coming back from these flights. Roth says the quarantine could last anywhere from three to 14 days.
"It might be tough at first," Roth said. "I might not be able to hug them and their will be people with hazmat suits around."
Another issue they face is transportation. His wife's apartment is around an hour drive from the airport. Roth said China has shutdown all public transportation and people are not encouraged to go outside.
"We are looking into maybe having an uncle drive them," Roth said. "However we don't want to risk anyone getting in trouble."
There is also no exact time of when their flight departs. He said they think flights will resume Monday, but are not exactly sure.
"We are also expecting the Chinese government to screen people," Roth said. "There are many checkpoints they have to go through."
