WISCONSIN (NBC 26) — Sunday is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
It is a day to honor law enforcement on the local, state and federal levels.
It’s no secret that officers have dedicated their lives in protecting and serving our local communities.
Locally at the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Lieutenant John Bain shares with NBC 26 some of his experiences throughout his career and why he choose to get into this profession.
“My law enforcement career and what it means to me is having a front row ticket to life. I’ve seen people come into the world and I’ve seen people go out and I’ve seen just about every experience in the middle. I’ve shaken hands with Presidents and I’ve shaken hands with murders and again, almost anything in between. And my career in law enforcement has given me the opportunity to see and have a front row ticket to life and enjoy that and work with some amazing people while I did that,” Bain said.
Every day officers run towards the danger as front-line workers and first responders.
“So what National Law enforcement means to me is basically bringing together citizens of a community to work together to make that community a better place. They work in a very dynamic and difficult environment and do the best that they can as human beings to make that community a better place for everyone to live in,” Bain said.
National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day was created by multiple organizations in 2015 to express their gratitude for officers in the United States.
On behalf of the NBC 26 team, we want to thank all law enforcement across Wisconsin and the United States for all their hard work in keeping our communities safe.
